Dayton is a mid-sized city located within a larger area which extends from Springfield, OH to Cincinnati, OH. Cincinnati is approximately an hour south of Dayton. Columbus, the state capitol, is about an hour and a half east of Dayton. Dayton International Airport is only a 15-minute drive from Grandview Hospital and Medical Center. Major roadways are I-75, I-70, US-35, and US-675. Grandview is approximately two blocks from I-75 in downtown Dayton.
Grandview Hospital and Medical Center is a part of Dayton Area Graduate Medical Education Consortium (DAGMEC) which includes all health professions and medical education institutions in the area. Thus, we have great access to resources from any of the DAGMEC member schools.
Dayton includes the City of Dayton and its neighboring cities/towns of Englewood, Trotwood, Kettering, Centerville/Washington Twp., Beavercreek, and Fairborn, Springfield to the east, and Springboro, West Carrollton, Middletown, Hamilton to the south, New Carlisle to the west. The City of Dayton and Montgomery, Greene, Clark, and Miami Counties offer a number of recreational, cultural and educational resources such as the bike path extending from Dayton south to West Carrollton, east to Xenia and Yellow Springs. Dayton has the Dayton Art Institute, United States Air Force Museum, historical parks in West Dayton honoring the Wright Brothers and Paul Lawrence Dunbar. There is also a museum for Women in Aviation.
Local institutions of higher education abound in the Greater Dayton area with University of Dayton, Sinclair Community College, Wright State University, Kettering College of Medical Arts, Wilberforce University, Central State University and Cedarville University, and private vocational schools all within a 40 mile radius of Grandview Hospital and Medical Center.
Additionally, many of the local school systems have attained excellent ratings each year from the State Department of Education. In Dayton itself, parents have the choice of Dayton Public Schools, a number of private, parochial schools and charter schools.
The area has many cultural activities including the Schuster Performing Arts Center, Victoria Theater, Kettering Summer Theater, Frazee Pavilion, Dayton Theater, and many other venues, both large and small, in and around the area. There are many options for movies including first-run, low-priced returning movies and art theaters.
